This week I explored the colar mix site and app and had TONS of fun playing around with it with my students. Here is how it works:

Open up the app on your ipad and hover your ipad over the picture until the picture turns blue. Before you know it, your creation will come to life with movement and sounds. SO COOL!
On the last day of school, my students and I had a ball coloring in the different pictures. The only drawback is that only a few of the pictures can be animated for free. You have to purchase additional packages if you want certain pictures to be animated. My students and I had so much fun though, that I think it is worth the small investment!

Yes I totally agree, this app is the coolest ever. I downloaded this onto my android phone the night of class and tried it on my laptop without the coloring page. The 3D images were awesome! The next day, I told my colleague and printed out the free PDFs for him so that his children could try it home. He said over the weekend they had a blast using their iPad making their pictures come to life. I'm not sure how I would use this with sixth graders but it is a definitely the coolest app.
ReplyDeleteFUN! FUN! FUN I LOVE it. Of course, my first thought was...my son would totally think this app was the coolest thing ever! We don't have an IPad however...we do have a Kindle and he has a LeapFrog 2...I wonder if it would work with any of these devices. So aside from just fun, oh my goodness you could do SO much with this app. I'm sure you've already come up with tons of ideas. Could you create a digital story using this app? What a neat way for art teachers to incorporate technology. I think I will share this app with the art teacher at my school. Great find. Thanks for sharing.
